This year marks the 100th anniversary of the opening of the first transcontinental highway.
Our local NPR station, WNIJ, has featured author Dan Libman's bike ride.
But, even more fun are the Europeans who consider driving along Lincoln Highway coast to coast as a dream come true. Their vintage but fully functioning vehicles, shipped here at great cost from Sweden, Denmark, Germany, etc, highlight the romance of America in which the open road is its icon. Check out this story from NPR's Morning Edition, reported by WNIJ's Jenna Dooley.
