Looking Forward to a New Collection of Irish Writing

Alison Flood reports in The Guardian newspaper on a forthcoming collection of works by Irish writers inspired by works in Ireland's National Gallery, Lines of Vision: Irish Writers on Art.  Street date for this title in the United States is 14 October 2014.  The publication commemorates the 150th anniversary of the National Gallery of Ireland's opening.

Flood does a wonderful job of describing Seamus Heaney's contribution and how he responded to the call from Janet McLean, the gallery’s curator of European art 1850-1950, who edits the $35 volume.  It seems that the late Heaney's style was like mine, tending to let a poem "pickle" and making changes as necessary before it is "final."  (In no way should the gentle reader think yours truly believes I'm anywhere near the talent and skill of Seamus Heaney.

In addition to Heaney, Roddy Doyle, Colm Tóibín and Larry's favorite John Banville are also contributors.  What a beautiful gift this would make for any lover or art and literature.  Pre-order it from Books on First now.
