A New Holiday Tradition

We have had Books for Babes for more than 10 holiday seasons, encouraging patrons to buy a present (maybe a book, maybe something else) for a child in need as chosen by the social workers of Lutheran Social Services (LSSI) and other organizations.  And, we take a percentage of the purchases of books for this program and buy hats, scarves and mittens for them.

This year, for the first time, we have quietly launched The Storybook Program, in which we have partnered with LSSI who has partnered with the Dixon Correctional Center to provide board books to inmates who are also parents of small children.  The inmate parent will be recorded reading the book and both book and recording will be delivered to the child.  Come in and help us bring joy to separated families.
